Lysander's twin sister. The pair have always been extremely close, going so far to refer to themselves as 'two sides of the same coin' and that 'what's mine is yours'. This still holds true, to the point where they can swap appearance (through Lysander's magic) with each other as easily as slipping on a jacket and don't have a problem with sharing clothes, from suits to dresses. Their shared interest in music often emerges when they're together and both are always playful with each other underneath their usual blunt, snark. Emily is the more boisterious, bold of the two while Lysander is the more watchful and gentle. While Lysander is very much against causing lasting harm or killing anyone, Emily served in the army and will not hesitate to 'deal' with someone blocking her path. While both are very protective of each other, Emily is far more likely to take threatening action against anyone who hurts her brother.
As children it was expected that Emily, not Lysander, would inherit their mother's magical abilities. When this turned out not to be so, Emily helped teach Lysander what their mother had been teaching her in preparation. As teens the pair began to drift from their parents, both struggling with their sexuality, identity and Catholic faith. This only solidified their tight-knit trust in each other as they depended on the other, and saw their situation as them against the world. This reached it's peak when they prepared and carried out a Blood Ritual; a forbidden kind of magic, designed to bond two individuals to each other with one as a thrall to the other. Lysander and Emily however, edited the bond and poured over various designs and grimoires leading to their bond - one of equal power.
Around the time Lysander adopted Ash, Emily joined the army as a mechanic. This separated the two for several years, especially as Lysander struggled with raising Ash on little money and fell into debt to unfavourable sources. Upon leaving the army, Emily began to run a courier business, dealing with both legal and 'less legal' packages. To try and help Lysander, she hired him to run the more valuable packages, using his skills in illusion to safely escort illegal goods across the city and over borders.
Their blood bond lets them detect where each other is and their general state of wellbeing. They can't read each other's minds but can tell how the other is feeling, for example if one is annoyed the other will know. It persists no matter the distance between them as it's within their blood. What neither Emily nor Lysander realise however, is that their bond also ties together their lives. When one dies the other will also die, regardless their state of health or how the other met their end.

Lysander's adopted son. Ash adores Lysander and thinks he's a great dad, despite Lysander's low self-esteem and erratic work schedule. As a child he was slightly clingy and needed reassurance when left alone but he's thankfully grown out of that. Lysander taught Ash how to play guitar and helped develop a love of music in him while Ash longs to develop magic like Lysander, constantly trying to meditate with him. He's fully aware that Lysander is not his father but insists on calling him so, on the basis that 'you raised me and love me so that makes you my dad!' While naive, boisterious and prone to ignoring laws to pursue his own ideals, he has a heart of gold and does his best to make people around him happy - his dad included.
Lysander adopted Ash following a fire that killed his birth parents, feeling responsible and guilty for hiding the blaze under the belief that nobody was in the building. Lysander initially struggled with raising Ash, especially financially. He tried to hide this trouble from him but Ash has always been aware of how Lysander's stressed over bills. As he grew older he began to steal to try and help support their household, or to obtain nice things to give to Lysander as presents. Ash's likeable personality and natural charisma made him very popular and he began to bring home friends, often from troubled homes. The end result is that there's nearly always someone extra at the dinner table, and many of his friends see Lysander as a 'community dad', much to Lysander's diffidence.
Ash does eventually develop magic; adept magic, the ability to alter and empower one's own body to perform superhuman feats, such as running on walls and on ceilings, enhanced endurance and stamina, cloaking himself in fire and boosting his natural strength and agility.

Lysander's parents, a tough military man and a powerful healing witch. His father is soft-spoken but strict and a devout Catholic, while his mother is stubborn, blunt and far less rigid in her faith. They met, bonded over a mutual love of music and folklore, married and, of course, had children. Both are highly respected in their community, unusually so for Rosemary; many witches are deemed suspicous and questionable, but her gift for healing excuses her from this. Unfortunately this only put pressure upon her children to develop an equally benevolent power should they turn out to be magicians, something that always enraged her when the subject was brought up.
When Lysander came out as gay, his father struggled to cope and understand which drove a wedge between them and, unknowingly to him, convinced Emily to keep her own sexuality quiet. He also put pressure on his son to keep it quiet, thinking it would bring shame to their family and would upset Rosemary. While the two have tried to move past this it's still a difficult topic for them to discuss and more often than not results in one of them abandoning the conversation and walking out. He also didn't support Lysander adopting Ash at such a young age and refused to help, saying that Lysander could either care for Ash on his own or give him to someone who could. Thankfully this patch has been repaired over the years, as the senior Lysander came to know and love Ash as his grandchild.
Rosemary and Lysander's relationship became very close after it emerged that Lysander had developed magic, not his sister. She took him as an apprentice and was heartbroken when he began to act out, especially when she learned why. She was much more understanding than her husband, and eventually coaxed a confession of being genderfluid from him too. She told him that such things didn't matter to a truly loving God and that, more importantly, it didn't matter to her. While Lysander has trouble fully believing that yet, he wears the rosary she gave him that day to remind him of her love when he came out to her. She didn't agree with his adoption of Ash, she came to see how having him to raise made Lysander a better man and grew to love Ash as her grandson.
